One of the most important reasons President Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark on their expedition was to find a water route to the Pacific Ocean and explore the uncharted West. Your job as cartographer is to create a map of your group's route to the Pacific Ocean and back.
You will complete a detailed map highlighting the trail of your group (corps of discovery), including the different stops your group makes along the way. Make sure to mark the map with significant landscapes like mountains, rivers, forests, and grassland prairies. Use your map skills to create a key for your map so that others know what your symbols mean. You will also keep track of the group's supplies.
At the end of your task you should have:
1 Map marked with:
-the group's trail
-the group's campsites
-at least 3 important landscapes
1 Map key
1 Completed supply log

Use different colors to mark off each leg of their journey (each leg is marked by numbers on the top of this page: http://www.nationalgeographic.com/lewisandclark/journey_leg_1.html)
If information is provided, write down the date the group started and ended each leg of the journey, on your map.
